It's the Return of Silly Quiz Tuesday!!!

Hey there. Welcome to Digital Digressions v2.0.

As you may recall from the old blog (and yes, I know that the old posts haven't been imported from Blogger yet -- I'm working on it), Tuesdays is Silly Quiz Day.

Well, it was once. Two weeks ago.

But that's good enough for me! (And you, poor soul, being forced -- forced, I tell you! -- to read this and try it yourself.)

Today's silly quiz comes from Scrivener. (I tell you, the man's a veritable fount of web quizzes!) It's the Geek/Nerd/Dork Quiz, and it's a doozy. 60 questions! That's got to be a sign of trustworthiness and scientific accuracy, right? It even comes with a picture of Napoleon Dynamite -- how cool is that?

For The Record:

A Nerd is someone who is passionate about learning/being smart/academia.
A Geek is someone who is passionate about some particular area or subject, often an obscure or difficult one.
A Dork is someone who has difficulty with common social expectations/interactions.

Nerds didn't use to be cool, but in the 90's that all changed. It used to be that, if you were a computer expert, you had to wear plaid or a pocket protector or suspenders or something that announced to the world that you couldn't quite fit in. Not anymore. Now, the intelligent and geeky have eked out for themselves a modicum of respect at the very least, and "geek is chic." The Modern, Cool Nerd is intelligent, knowledgable and always the person to call in a crisis (needing computer advice/an arcane bit of trivia knowledge). They are the one you want as your lifeline in Who Wants to Be a Millionaire (or the one up there, winning the million bucks)!

That was grueling. I need a break and a drink.

According to my test results I'm "Pure Nerd." This despite the fact that my actual percentages were: 52% nerd, 34% geek, 34% dork. United States presidential elections notwithstanding, since when is 52% considered a MANDATE?

I have 3 additional comments.

First, I very much enjoyed the self-referential meta-question (Question 58).

Second, I did not understand and I suspect foul play with respect to Question 34 (what could anyone possibly mean by "my specialties" in this warped context?).

Third, just for fun I also performed a google search for "cool nerd" images, and long before I came across His Throbing Sexiness, James Marsden, I encountered URKEL from Family Matters. Explain THAT one away, why don't you.
