Dying for Diet Drinks?
Academic Coach links to a fascinating Internet Quiz -- Energy Fiend's Death by Caffeine.
According to this font of Internet Jolt-Juice Wisdom, it would take:
341 Diet Pepsis, or
299.63 Diet Doctor Peppers, or
273 Diet Cokes, or
223.36 Diet Mountain Dews, or
153.56 Red Bulls
to kill me.
Who knew?!
If you're so inclined, you can also find out how many Hershey's Kisses (12,285.00 for me) it would take to put you down.
Check it out. Before you accidentally check yourself out by ingesting a fatal dose of Reese's Peanut-Butter Cups (3,071.25, which could easily happen -- I love those things!).

I have four problems with this. First, there's no time limit -- are they basing this on a lifetime accumulation? Second, I just read somewhere that coffee and tea are fantastic antioxidants -- is this healthful tidbit being taken into consideration? Third, how on earth does a lame beverage like Mello Yello end up being so darn deadly? Fourth, through regression analysis we can now determine your exact weight, and I'm pretty sure you didn't intend for that to be public knowledge, did you?

Anyone rude enough to reverse-engineer my weight from my caffeine mortality stats is quite beneath my notice or comment. (See the earlier post about the "coursening of our culture.")
I assumed that these figures represented the amount of caffeine that would be fatal to an individual of X weight, divided by the caffeine content of each individual drink. So, you'd probably have to finish your last drink before your body could metabolize the first ones. Talk about a "big gulp"...
And I agree -- Mello Yello is seriously misnamed. It should be called Hell o'Yello.

Death by caffeine has left the realm of internet quiz:

Sad, sad, sad.
At least the car dealership had the decency to cancel the contest. Who knew they were still doing those stupid things?!

Exactly not! I love to have green tea when I feel like having a drink. It feels good and is also suitbale when it comes to health.
