Saturday Poetry Blogging

In an effort (yet another effort) to become one of the kool kids, I've decided to join the Poetry Blogging craze.

This week's offering comes from one of the most profound, and profoundly big-haired, poets of our, nay, of any generation, Lyle Lovett.

From his seminal and eponymous collection, Lyle Lovett and His Large Band, I present to you, an excerpt from "Here I Am":

Look...

I understand too little too late.

I realize there are things you say and do
You can never take back.
But what would you be if you didn't even try?

You have to try.

So after a lot of thought
I'd like to reconsider.

Please.

If it's not too late.

Make it a ... cheeseburger.

Goodness. That one always brings tears to my eyes.

In related news, I forgot to credit Liam for bringing to my attention the post that led to this recent post. My bad.

No worries. I don't mind contributing to the blog's perceived omniscience re: e-happenings, and I don't have a nifty site of my own to link back to (yet).

Mmmmm, cheeseburger.
