One of These Things Is Not Like the Other...

...One of These Things Does Not Belong.

For all of you Sesame Streeters out there, that's a reference to one of the many, many teaching songs from the long-running children's show. Here's how it would work: while the song is playing, they show us a group of items. We, the viewers, then have to figure out which item is dissimilar to the others.

So here we go! Ready? Which one of these International Newsweek covers from the exact same week isn't like the other?

First, using the present progressive to describe the situation in Afghanistan is clearly misleading on several levels. Second, everyone knows that pop culture photographer Annie Leibovitz is revered as a goddess in Estonia, which wasn't even one of the answers!

Yes, I recently noticed the AmericaBlog post about this. So I went to my office and checked the reading materials we have on hand for patients to read while waiting for their appointments. Sure enough, in the United States the dire situation in Afghanistan is not front-page news. Instead we learned about photography!

This doesn't seem very different from the rosy picture we've been spoon-fed for years about Iraq, which only this week was thoroughly debunked by a National Intelligence Estimate that was completed by all the spy agencies many months ago but was promptly mothballed because:

We can't handle the truth!
